A5 hardback planner 2027: why A5 is the right size for a business planner
Size matters when it comes to planners. Too big and it stays on your desk. Too small and there’s no room to think. For a business planner you’ll use all year, A5 hardback is the sweet spot.
Why A5 works
A5 is 148 by 210 millimetres: half a sheet of A4. That makes it:
- Small enough to carry. It goes in your handbag or work bag, so it comes with you to the café, the school gate and the client meeting. A planner you have with you gets used.
- Big enough to plan in. There’s room on a page for a proper plan, not just a few words squeezed into a box.
- The right size for your desk. It sits open beside your laptop without taking over.
A4 planners are lovely to write in, but most of them never leave the house. Pocket planners go everywhere, but there’s no room to plan anything bigger than a shopping list.
Why hardback
You’ll open your planner hundreds of times in a year and throw it in your bag every day. A hardback cover keeps the pages flat and tidy, and it still looks good in December. It also gives you something to lean on when you’re writing on your knee.
What to look for in an A5 business planner
- Dated pages that start in January, so you can plan around real dates and real holidays
- A year at a glance to see the big picture
- Monthly pages for your plans, not just a calendar grid
- Weekly pages with room for every day
- Somewhere for your numbers, so your money sits next to your plans
- A ribbon, so you can open straight to this week
